Interest Groups

Request to members

Willing Volunteers are required to administer Interest Groups. The essence of u3a is the sharing of knowledge or experience to encourage or inspire others in the subject. Do you have an interest in the Classics, Music, Arts, Travel, Writing, Photography, or any other particular subject? Why not share your passion with other members of u3a. They will be SO appreciative! There is a Support and guidance on everything you need to set up, and run an interest group, so please don’t be shy in coming forward. Ilkeston u3a runs interest groups, chosen and led by the members, on a wide range of subjects. Groups are for both learning and to stay active. Groups are self-financing so there may be a small charge to cover the cost of each session. Each group is led by a member who has a particular interest or passion for the subject. Any member can become a Group Leader.

Each group decides on its own programme and structure and all members are encouraged to contribute. A new group can be started at any time, all it needs is a few interested members.

Any member can join any group that has space, but does not have to do more than they want to. Non-members can only attend as part of our ‘Try Before You Buy’ offer.
