The Life Blood of u3a is the many and varied Interest Groups. Alongside these the monthly Open Meetings attract many, and occasional Special Events, like our annual Interest Groups Fair, inform people about what we do and how to join.
It’s local, social, friendly and fun!
Interest Groups
We always welcome new ideas for interest groups. u3a is all about co-operation. Members can be learners in one group but leaders of another. Members help other members to share their knowledge and passion for a subject. Everyone is encouraged to make the most of their talents and help others enjoy what they love.
Interest Groups are led by a member of that group. Each group is self financing and there may be a small contribution per session to cover the costs of that group. Each group decides its own programme and structure and all members are encouraged to be involved.
To join any of the Interest Groups you need to be a member of Ilkeston u3a. Prospective members are welcome to attend for a single trial visit.
Group Leaders can be contacted via a contact form on the relevant Interest Group page. Click the link below to find out more.
Open Meetings
Ilkeston u3a members meet once a month at an Open Meeting to share information, meet other members and, more often than not, enjoy an invited guest speaker. Open Meetings are popular events as we usually have over 100 members attend. Visitors who want to know more about what we do and how to join in the fun are most welcome to attend. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are available.
